Jeep India has launched the 2021 Wrangler with a starting price of Rs. 53.90 lakhs (ex-showroom), today. Now assembled in the country, the off-road SUV is offered in 2 trim levels, namely the Unlimited and Rubicon.
In all, 5 colours options – Black, Bright White, Firecracker Red, Granite Crystal and Sting Grey – are offered with the SUV that comes with automatic LED headlamps, LED DRLs, LED fog lights and LED tail lamps.
The SUV comes with removable doors, a fold-flat windshield and a 3-piece modular hard top as well, and inside, it gets leather seats, leather-finish dashboard, steering mounted controls and features such as a 7-inch driver’s display, 8.4-inch UConnect infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, engine stop/start, dual-zone air-conditioning and cruise control.
Powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo petrol engine that produces a maximum of 268 HP and 400 Nm of peak torque, the Wrangler has an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
The Unlimited variant features body-coloured trapezoidal wheel flares, 18-inch aluminium alloys with granite crystal spokes and all-season tyres.
Although not as capable as the Rubicon variant when off-roading, it does come with SelecTrac full-time 4×4 system with active 4WD transfer case that has a ‘Smart Lock’ feature to keep the system engaged during off-roading or low traction road conditions.
Known for its off-roading prowess, the 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon price gets buyers kit such as RockTrac full-time 4×4 system, an electronically operated clutch, Dana 44 heavy duty solid axles with TruLok (front and rear), electronically disconnectable front sway bar, Offroad+ mode, and thick gauge boron steel underbody skid plates.
What’s more, the Rubicon has a water wading capability of 760 mm (at 8 km/hr) and approach, departure and break-over angles of 36-degrees, 31-degrees and 21-degrees, respectively, the while ground clearance is 217 mm.
Safety-wise, the car has dual front and side airbags, ESC, HSA, hill descent control, electronic rollover mitigation, TPMS, and a park assist system with a rear back-up camera.
Jeep has also introduced a MOPAR accessory suite that offers a selection of 120 accessories for the SUV. These have been divided into 4 packages (Explorer Pack, Night Ultra Vision Pack, Sports Pack and Essential Pack) for customers to order.
Offered as standard with a 3-year and 1 lakh km warranty, the locally-assembled 2021 Wrangler will be retailed at 26 Jeep dealerships across India.
In addition, celebrating 80 years of Jeep brand, the carmaker has said it will bring to India a limited number of the Wrangler ‘Launch Edition’ model as well.
