Patent images of the 2021 Isuzu MU-X have been leaked online and it looks like the product is all but nearing production.
Based on the latest generation D-Max pickup that is sold overseas, the SUV’s patent images have been taken from the Japan Patent Office.
Design-wise, there are some similarities between the 2021 MU-X and D-Max. At the front the SUV gets a revised radiator grille, sleeker headlights, new fog lamp housing and a revised bumper.
At the sides, we can see that the glass area has increased, window line gets a garnish (probably chrome) and a strong shoulder line with a slight kink over the rear door handle can be seen.
Finally, at the rear, the 2021 Isuzu MU-X patent images show a set of taillights (likely LEDs) that are much sharper, roof spoiler with a third stop light attached to it and a rather small skid plate.
No images of the interior are available as of now. But, we would like to see a different design inside with respect to the current car, unlike the exterior styling that seems to be more of an evolution from the previous generation.
Powertrain options are expected to mirror that of the D-Max which means a new 3.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine that puts out 190 HP and 450 Nm is expected under the bonnet.
A 6-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel-drive will be offered along with the SUV. Launch of the new 2021 MU-X in India is expected to happen next year. It will compete directly against the Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner.
