Honda wants to electrify all of its European mainstream models by 2022

With the 2021 HR-V eHEV, Honda has expanded its electrified lineup in Europe

The 2021 Honda HR-V eHEV has gone on sale in Europe, with prices starting from €31,290 (Rs. 27.32 lakhs), recently.

Available in 3 variants – Elegance, Advance and Advance Style – the front-wheel drive crossover is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol motor (107 PS and 131 Nm) along with 2 electric motors, the largest of which is a 96 kW (131 PS) unit producing 253 Nm.

Equipped with a eCVT, it can do the 0-100 km/hr sprint in 10.6 seconds and hit a top speed of 170 km/hr. The electric motors draw power from a Lithium-ion battery.

Honda claims the car has class-leading interior space

Sporting 3 drive modes (Econ, Normal and Sport), the hybrid rides on 18-inch wheels as standard with 225/50-section rubber, has 188 mm of road clearance and large disc brakes at all corners.

With a coupe inspired design, the 2021 Honda HR-V eHEV has a 20 mm lower roof, reduced front overhang (by 20 mm) and increased rear overhang (also by 20 mm).

It also features sleek lights, a body-coloured grille, lower mesh grille, and has a centrally positioned fuel tank (beneath the front seats).

The hybrid car weighs 1401 kg (max) and has a cargo space of 319 litres

Inside, the automaker has used contemporary fabrics and soft-touch materials to give the cabin fitted with ‘Magic Seats’ a premium feel.

It comes with features such as a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a range of connected services, a 7-inch TFT instrument panel, handsfree powered tailgate, among others.

Honda claims the car now has a more direct steering, better handling and ride comfort and for safety, it has equipped the 2021 HR-V eHEV with both passive and Honda Sensing active safety technologies.
