Looks like Ford is coming up with a special edition model of the 2021 EcoSport and it will not feature the tailgate-mounted spare wheel.
Earlier this year, Ford revised the variant lineup of the EcoSport and this will be another update that the car receives just over a month’s time.
Spotted at a dealer yard, this particular model has a different tailgate which has the numberplate housing above which sits a chrome applique. Also, the bumper is different and it has a skid plate too.
If you remember seeing this rear section earlier, you do have a damn good memory, for this is the same rear section that was on the European model when it received a facelift 6 years ago. We even spotted the car on our roads (read article here).
The front profile of the car does not look different though. It does have a chrome grille, body-coloured fog lamp surrounds, projector headlights, and alloy wheels.
It is not known if Ford has moved the spare wheel to the boot of the car or if it has ditched it altogether in favour of a puncture kit.
Expected to be positioned between the Titanium and Sports variants, the 2021 Ford EcoSport special edition model should come with both petrol and diesel engine options.
Since the new variant has been spotted at a dealer yard, Ford is expected to launch it soon and this should help the ageing compact SUV gain more sales.
