BMW has introduced the mid-cycle update for 5-Series and 6-Series GT.
The BMW 5-Series G30 (seventh gen) model was revealed for the first time in 2016. BMW has now revealed a mid-life refresh for both 5-Series and 6-Series GT.
This facelift looks more prominent than what we saw with the F10 5-Series update. The front profile now looks sharper thanks to the sleeker Adaptive LED headlights. The grille and bumper also gets minor tweaks.
The rear profile also comes with new tail light design and revised bumper with trapezoidal exhaust pipes. The 6-Series GT changes are in-line with the 5-Series, making it looks fresh.
The interiors get very minor visual changes that’ll go unnoticed. Slight changes to the upholstery for an updated look. There’s a new iDrive 7 infotainment system with 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.3-inch touchscreen display.
Both the 5-Series and 6-Series GT will be offered with multiple petrol and diesel engine options in the international market. The 6-cylinder petrol models now get a 48V mild-hybrid tech for better efficiency.
BMW will be offering 2.0-litre petrol, 2.0-litre petrol plug-in hybrid, 3.0-litre 6-cylinder petrol, 4.4-litre V8, 2.0-litre diesel and 3.0-litre diesel engine options internationally.
In India, we expect the German luxury carmaker to offer 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre engines in both petrol and diesel guise. Both the facelifts are likely to launch in India by 2021.
The 2021 BWM 5-Series competes with the likes of Mercedes E-Class and Audi A6. Both the rivals have got a facelift recently, while Mercedes is yet to launch it in India.
