Bentley Motors has revealed the 2021 Continental GT Speed, which it claims is the most dynamic road car in the brand’s history.
The third-generation Continental GT Speed is a performance grand tourer that has a 6.0-litre W12 twin-turbocharged motor under its bonnet capable of putting out 650 BHP and 900 Nm of torque.
It is mated to an 8-speed DCT that sends the motor’s power to all 4 wheels. Thus, the car can do the 0-100 km/hr run in 3.6 seconds and hit a top speed of 335 km/hr (208 mph).
Since this Continental GT Speed has serious power, Bentley has given it an “advanced chassis technology” unique for the model. It also gets a new electronic all-wheel steering with a quicker ratio, an electronic limited slip differential (eLSD), a 48V active anti-roll control system and even the torque distribution of the active all-wheel drive has been recalibrated.
The performance grand tourer also gets a new carbon ceramic brake system (an optional extra) which saves 33 kg un-sprung mass. This system uses 10-piston front callipers and 4-piston rears that sit flush behind the new 22-inch alloy wheels.
But, it is a luxury car at heart and when the person in control wants to take things easy, he or she can activate the stop-start tech, cylinder deactivation tech, put the car in “Comfort” mode (Bentley and Sport are other drive modes) and let the 3-chamber active air suspension with adaptive damping do its job.
Design-wise the Speed model sports styling revisions to complement its character. The radiator grille and air dam grille come in dark tint, there is Speed badging in chrome, while the fuel and oil filler caps are “Jewel” versions.
Inside, the cabin has a duotone colour scheme and is draped with leather and Alcantara. As ever, the personalisation options are endless. For example, there are 15 main and 11 secondary hide colours and the cabin can be had completely in leather if desired.
The seats get diamond in diamond quilting and there are “Speed” embroidered headrests, while a range of veneers are available for the GT Speed including Piano Black (standard), Crown Cut Walnut, Dark Stained Burr Walnut, Dark Fiddleback Eucalyptus and 3 more open pore options.
Also, the driver gets a digital instrument panel and the slick rotating central display is also offered as standard on the 2021 Bentley Continental GT Speed, along with illuminated treadplates, among other features.
