Bajaj Auto has announced that the re-opening of bookings for 2021 Chetak electric scooter in Bengaluru and Pune has come to a close.
Bookings for the EV commenced on 13th April and was ceased within 48 hours by the automaker due to large number of orders, states Bajaj. However, the exact number of orders received was not disclosed.
But, Bajaj did say all of the available Chetak units were booked. The next round of bookings will be announced after the company reviews the supply situation.
Bajaj also claimed that despite COVID-led disruptions last year that resulted in an “unintended and long waiting period”, it saw very few cancellations of Chetak bookings.
The brand aims to resolve supply chain issues at the earliest, re-open 2021 Bajaj Chetak bookings and put the scooter on sale in more cities within the next quarter.
Launched in January last year, the Chetak is available in “Premium” and “Urbane” trims. The scooter has a 3 kWh battery pack and an electric motor putting out 6 HP and 16 Nm of torque.
The maximum claimed range of the scooter on a single charge is 95 km. It also comes with LED headlamps, sequential LED indicators, 3 riding modes (including a reverse mode), among other features.
