One unit of the 2021 Audi Q5 facelift has been spotted testing in India. The car was revealed globally by the middle of last year and received changes both on the outside and inside.
While it is expected to be launched this year in India, it has been spotted on test in Pune by MotorBeamer Gaurang Agarwal.
Upfront, the new octagonal grille with lots of chrome sits proud in the middle, although it is a shame that about half of it is blanked off. It is flanked by fog lights that sit in a new housing.
Also new are the headlights, which look much nicer, while the front bumper sporting a small lip spoiler is also new. At the rear, there is a chrome trim piece that connects the new OLED tail lights, while here too the bumper has been revised.
While it seems Audi has understood that lighting is the new chrome, we expect the firm to offer customers the option of choosing between different lighting setups when they spec their new Q5.
A sportier exterior is not the only good aspect of the refreshed version of the SUV. Although we have not gotten any interior images of the 2021 Audi Q5 facelift spotted car, it is known that the luxury vehicle will come with more tech on the inside.
There will be a a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, revised centre console, a new 10.1-inch touchscreen unit supporting connected car tech including “functions on demand” feature, Amazon Alexa, and many others.
Audi knows a thing or two about making good interiors, thus, we can expect use of good materials all round and exceptional build quality. Customers can also avail of optional extras like the Matrix LED headlamps, heads-up display, among others.
In India, the luxury SUV will only come with 1 petrol engine – a 2.0-litre unit, in 45 TFSI spec, making a maximum of 245 HP and 370 Nm of torque. It will be mated to a 7-speed S-Tronic DCT, while Quattro all-wheel-drive will be standard. The Q5 will also get a mild-hybrid setup for added efficiency.
Since the 2021 Audi Q5 facelift spotted car looks ready to go on sale, we expect it to be launched soon and take on the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC and the like, while prices are likely to be in the region of Rs. 55 lakhs (ex-showroom).
