The Skoda Superb gets a mid-life facelift and it now comes with a new engine.
Skoda has launched the 2020 Superb facelift in India. The D-segment sedan gets changes to the exterior and interior while it now comes with a new petrol engine. The vehicle is offered in two variants – Sportline and L&K and the starting price of Rs. 29.99 lakhs is Rs. 4 lakhs higher than the pre-facelift model.
On the outside, the 2020 Skoda Superb facelift gets redesigned bumpers, tweaked headlamps and tail lights, new fog lamps with DRLs, some additional chrome inserts and a new set of wheels. Both the variants get 17-inch wheels but with different designs. The Sportline is offered in three colour options – Steel Grey, Race Blue, and Moon White while the L&K comes in five colours – Business Grey, Moon White, Lava Blue, Magic Black, and Magnetic Brown.
The Skoda Superb L&K comes with dual-tone interiors with a black and beige colour theme while the Sportline gets an all-black theme. The sedan sees some feature additions like wireless charging, digital instrument cluster, and an 8-inch Amundsen touchscreen infotainment system. You also get equipment like ventilated front seats with heating and cooling functions, 8 airbags, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, hands-free parking, and a panoramic sunroof.
Under the hood, the 2020 Skoda Superb now comes with a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine. The older 1.8 TSI and 2.0 TDI engines have been discontinued. This engine develops 190 PS and 320 Nm and it comes matched to a 7-speed DSG, with the power being sent to the front wheels. In comparison, the 1.8 TSI engine used to churn out 180 PS and 250 Nm. The updated Superb has a top speed of 239 km/hr while 0-100 km/hr comes up in a claimed 7.70 seconds.
