Royal Enfield has been continuously testing the new Thunderbird, to launch it next year.
The 2020 Royal Enfield Thunderbird has been spied again, testing in Tamil Nadu. This time the motorcycle has been documented showing a few changes on the camera. The new model is heavily inspired by the current generation Thunderbird X.
The 2020 RE Thunderbird is expected to make use of the 346cc and 499cc engines like the current model but with upgrades to make it BS6 compliant. Other noticeable mechanical changes include a repositioned drive system which now sits on the left-hand side of the motorcycle while the disc brake sits on the right-hand side. A redesigned exhaust and air filter box with a flatter handlebar are also featured on the motorcycle.
There are several cosmetic changes as well. The motorcycle now includes a shorter rear fender with a chrome-lined circular tail-lamp to give the motorcycle a retro look. It also features a redesigned split seat and new grab rails from the Thunderbird X. Since the test mule is spied with alloy wheels instead of the traditional wire-spoke wheels, the motorcycle is expected to come with alloy wheels as standard from the factory. There is a new single-pod instrument cluster with a small LCD display as well.
The new motorcycle is set to arrive just before BS6 norms come into effect and is expected to be priced at a premium over the current model. Currently, the Thunderbird range starts from Rs. 1,56,198/- (ex-showroom Mumbai).
