The Nissan Sunny is also known by different name tags in different markets, upon which, the platform also differs.
Nissan unveiled its 11th generation of the Sunny sedan in Florida USA, and the sedan is also known as the Versa in the US market. The Nissan Sunny unveiled, is available in many markets internationally. Depending on the market, it is called Sunny, Versa or Almera. The type of platform also differs from market to market. The styling is inspired by Nissan V-Motion design philosophy. However, the India launch of the 2020 Nissan Sunny has not been confirmed yet.
Coming to the design of the vehicle, the 2020 Nissan Sunny gets a new V-shaped front grille, wraparound headlights, a refreshed bumper design, floating roof, larger rear doors and deep recess lines across the sides of the vehicle. It is also bigger in dimensions from its previous generation. On the inside, the cabin also gets refreshed with quality material upholstery. It also gets a new touchscreen infotainment system, two-tone upholstery and chrome accents.
The 2020 Nissan Sunny comes with ventilated seats, automatic air conditioning, cruise control, airbags, remote lock, parking sensors and start-stop button. Now coming to the powertrain, the Nissan Sunny in the US is offered with a 1.6-litre, turbo petrol engine which makes 122 HP and 154 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a CVT. Upon its arrival in India, it could be expected to be powered with the same engine options as the Nissan Kicks which includes a 1.5-litre HK4 petrol engine making 106 PS of power at 5600 RPM and 142 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM and the 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine which is capable of making 110 PS of power at 3850 RPM and 240 Nm of torque at 1750 RPM. The petrol engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox while the diesel engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox on the Kicks. The engines also meet the upcoming emission norms.
If launched in India, expect the 2020 Nissan Sunny to get a price tag higher than its current counterpart being sold in India. Upon its launch, it will rival the likes of the Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
