Mercedes recently launched the C63 Coupe and AMG GT R in India. The automaker also launched the new GLS just a couple of days back. At the time of the GLS’ launch, the company announced that they have a lot of products on the anvil for India and the new GLA and A-Class Limousine will be launched here in Q4 2020.
The Mercedes GLA and A-Class Limousine were showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. Both the vehicles are new generations and we even told you about the variants and features of the new A-Class few days back. The new A-Class Limousine will be offered with standard petrol and diesel variants, along with an AMG variant.
2020 Mercedes A-Class Launch
The 2020 Mercedes A-Class will get a 2.0-litre petrol engine making 188 HP and 300 Nm while the diesel engine which will be shared with the C-Class. This engine delivers 192 HP and 400 Nm on the C-Class but it could be offered in a lower state of tune in the A-Class Limousine. There will be an AMG variant with a 2.0-litre petrol engine making 302 HP and 400 Nm. The engines come mated to a 7-speed tranny.
The earlier A-Class was available as a hatchback but the new one will be available as a sedan. The vehicle gets equipment like LED lights all around, MBUX infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, touchpad, THERMOTRONIC 2-zone climate control, wireless-charging and PRE-SAFE. There will also be some cosmetic differentiation between the standard and AMG variants.
2020 Mercedes GLA Launch
The new Mercedes GLA is a huge step-up from the older model. The styling has been heavily revised. The vehicle is based on the new MFA2 platform and the wheelbase is 30 mm longer than the older model. There are major changes to the interior too and the GLA feels much more modern now. Just like its siblings, this vehicle also gets the MBUX infotainment system and digital instrument console.
The 2020 Mercedes GLA will share its engines with the A-Class and the German automaker is expected to launch the GLA’s AMG version too. The new GLA will give competition to the BMW X1 and Volvo XC40 while the A-Class Limousine will primarily rival the new Audi A3 that is expected to be launched in India too. The GLA and A-Class Limousine will be the new entry-level products in Mercedes’ India line-up.
