Maruti Swift to get a more powerful 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine.
Maruti Swift is one of the top selling cars in the country and a favourite hatchback for many. The Swift is now expected to get an update soon with a new engine on offer.
Maruti Suzuki is likely to introduce the K12C DualJet 1.2-litre BS6 petrol engine in the Swift facelift. The hatchback currently comes with a K12B series 1.2-litre petrol, which is BS6 compliant but offers 83 PS of power output.
The new K12C engine which also does duty in the facelifted Dzire comes with a 7 PS increase in power output and offers better fuel efficiency as well.
The 1.2-litre K12C DualJet petrol motor produces 90 PS and 113 Nm of torque. It is paired to both 5-speed manual ad AMT gearbox options. Just like the Dzire, the Swift might also skip the 12v mild-hybrid system but get start/stop tech.
The carmaker claims 24.12 km/l and 23.26 km/l for manual and AMT versions of this engine in the Dzire. We can expect marginally better fuel efficiency in the Swift. With the K12B petrol motor, the Swift returns a claimed mileage of 21.21 km/l.
Maruti Suzuki will give the Swift some minor cosmetic changes as well. The grille, bumpers and lights are likely to get revised. Interior will get new upholstery, instrument cluster and SmartPlay Studio.
