The next-gen Mahindra Thar will come with a factory fitted hard top, unlike the current model.
2020 Mahindra Thar spied with a black hard top is seen in the images. It seems like the Indian carmaker will be offering the Thar with a factory fitted hard top for the first time. The current generation Thar is only available with a soft top and considering the weather conditions in India, most of the customers put after market hard top.
We believe the new generation Thar will be offered with a choice of soft top and hard top. The 2020 Thar will share the updated ladder-frame platform with the next-gen Scorpio. The off-road oriented SUV will be wider and longer than its predecessor and will get more premium interior and convenience features on offer.
It is seen that the upcoming version of the 4×4 will have lower positioned door handles. It will also get a new suspension set-up, with the front suspension expected to have a bit lesser travel for better driving dynamics on the road. It will miss out on the independent suspension at the rear and will come with a wider track.
On the interiors, the car’s steering wheel is similar to that on the TUV300 and some of the features include steering mounted controls, touchscreen infotainment system, updated instrument cluster with MID and revamped AC vents. The car will get airbags, ABS, and rear parking sensors as required by the upcoming safety norms.
The new Thar will come with a new 2.0-litre diesel engine that is BS6 emission norms compliant. It is expected to produce around 140 BHP and will be offered with a low range gearbox for 4×4 version as well.
