2020 Mahindra Scorpio BS6 Variants

The Mahindra Scorpio is one of the most popular SUVs in India since more than 15 years and recently the automaker gave it a BS6 update. Earlier, the Scorpio was offered with a 2.5-litre diesel engine on the S3 variant while the other variants got a 2.2-litre mHawk engine. The 2.5-litre engine has been discontinued on the BS6 model and the Scorpio is now available with a single engine option with the S5, S7, S9 and S11 variants. The BS6 model also misses out on 4×4 and now the Scorpio is a RWD only vehicle. The 2.2-litre engine makes 140 HP and 320 Nm and is matched to a 6-speed MT.

The Mahindra Scorpio isn’t available with 4×4 anymore and if you’re buying a 2WD vehicle, it makes more sense to consider newer SUVs like the lower variants of the Tata Harrier and also the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta. The Scorpio’s prime rival Tata Safari Storme has been discontinued. The Scorpio is a good SUV but the ride quality is bumpy and the all-new Scorpio will come next year. If you want a proper SUV with 4×4, it makes sense to wait for the new Scorpio but if you’re looking to buy an SUV now itself, there are better 2WD models available. If you can wait for a couple of months, Mahindra is gearing up to launch the all-new Thar which is expected to be much more modern and feature-loaded. It will have 4×4 too.
