The new 1290 Super Duke R is more powerful, lighter and looks more aggressive.
Super naked bikes are getting extremely popular nowadays. One of the new entrants is the 2020 KTM 1290 Super Duke R that has been revealed at the ongoing EICMA show in Milan, Italy.
The bike has got lighter, is more powerful and has got some styling changes for the new model year. The Austrian bike maker wants to give a tough competition to the Ducati Streetfighter V4 and the Kawasaki Z H2 with the new 1290 Super Duke R.
The 2020 KTM 1290 Super Duke R is powered by a 1301cc, V-twin cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 180 HP at 9500 RPM and 140 Nm of peak torque at 8000 RPM. This engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch.
The bike has 189 kg dry weight and gets a fuel tank capacity of 16-litres. KTM has equipped the bike with the latest-generation, lean-angle sensitive traction control with 6-axis IMU and completely updated functions in all ride modes.
The new 1290 Super Duke R gets single sided swingarm with linkage system and new WP APEX rear shock absorber with external reservoir. The front brakes are Brembo Stylema 4-piston monobloc calipers and two 320 mm brake discs while the rear gets 240 mm disc.
