2020 Kawasaki Versys 1000 will be locally assembled in India via the CKD route.
After shutting sales of the Kawasaki Versys 1000 owing to low sales, the Japanese motorcycle maker has decided to make significant upgrades and re-launch the adventure tourer in the Indian market. The 2020 Kawasaki Versys 1000 is locally assembled at the company’s Chakan plant near Pune. Like its predecessor, the riding enjoyment has remained the main focus in re-designing the Versys 1000.
The motorcycle gets some noticeable changes to its looks. The front-end has a sharper design and accommodates the look of other bikes released by Kawasaki. A new LED headlight, an adjustable screen and an LCD display are also additional features of the outer design. Kawasaki has further added ride-by-wire and cruise-control features to the bike’s enhancements.
This outer body covers a 1043cc inline-4 engine which is liquid-cooled. The motor is capable of generating 120 HP and a peak torque of 102 Nm. The transmission is smoothly handled by the 6-speed gearbox. The Kawasaki Versys 1000 features conventional adjustable USD forks at the front and a monoshock unit at the rear.
The 2020 Kawasaki Versys 1000 seat is set high to make the rider sit upright and enjoy the ride. This also gives the rider good machine control. Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) offers the rider two modes to choose from depending on the riding conditions. These modes are enhanced for sporty riding performance or the peace of mind under certain conditions to negotiate slippery surfaces with confidence.
The 2020 Kawasaki Versys 1000 is only available in Candy Steel Furnace Orange colour. While its final price and number of units available are not revealed yet, customers can pre-book the bike for an amount of Rs. 1.5 lakhs at Kawasaki’s authorised dealerships. We can assume that it will be competitively priced, given that the Versys 1000 is brought in to India via the CKD route.
