Hyundai is readying the all-new Xcent which is likely to make its debut later this year.
Hyundai Xcent, not a car that’s unknown to the Indian car market. The probability of seeing a Hyundai Xcent on the road is as much as you can expect. But there’s a catch here, the Xcent has been extensively used for the fleet/commercial vehicle segment.
The Xcent is Hyundai’s smallest sedan and is currently receiving a complete makeover, from its engine to the bodywork and the interior included. There’s a probability of the Xcent name being replaced by something more spectacular to dust-off the taxi image that is glued to the on-going model. The adhesion is so much that stats indicate about 50% of the units sold land in the app-based cab segment.
The 2020 Hyundai Xcent will have a line-up of upgrades. Starting from the front, it is expected to get the cascading grille repping Hyundai. The compact sedan will get new lights and a lot of major changes to the styling. The design is also likely to look a bit more proportionate now.
The dimensions will remain unchanged to keep the car under the 4-metre mark. The interiors will also see a major overhaul with a new design for the dashboard, possibly better seats and of course a longer equipment list. Expect the Xcent to get a lot of goodies on the inside along with more safety features.
Under the hood will rest a BS6-compliant 1.2-litre Kappa motor while a diesel engine could be on the cards too. The petrol engine will be mated to an AMT gearbox option and the current 4-speed torque converter will be eliminated with an intent of better fuel economy and affordable expenses.
Hyundai will showcase the all-new Grand i10 in the near future and only after that will the 2020 Xcent make its debut. The new Xcent will rival the usual contenders in the compact sedan segment, the Maruti Dzire, Ford Aspire, Honda Amaze and Tata Tigor.
