2020 Honda WR-V launched, price starts from Rs. 8.49 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The car comes with minor cosmetic changes while the engines have been updated to meet BS6 emission regulations.
There are only two variants on offer – SX and VX – for both petrol and diesel engine models and Honda offers the WR-V with six colour options for the discerning buyer to choose from.
When compared with the pre-facelift model, the new car comes with a new grille upfront with horizontal slats and new projector headlights with DRLs. Those gifted with keen eyes would also notice that there are LED taillights and new dual tone diamond cut alloy wheels too.
Inside, there is a push button start/stop feature, a DIGIPAD 2.0 infotainment system with a 17.7 cm touch screen that supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, while the driver’s instrument binnacle is semi-digital. There is auto AC and the adjustable steering wheel has handsfree and cruise control switches. Oh, one also gets keyless entry and an electric sunroof.
Engine options remain the same with a 1.2-litre petrol unit producing 90 PS and 110 Nm, while a slightly larger diesel unit with 1.5-litres displacement produces 100 PS and 200 Nm. There is more, the petrol engine car gets a five-speed gearbox and returns 16.5 km/l while the oil-burner gets an extra cog to play with and gives an economy of 23.7 km/l.
Safety has been top on Honda’s list, with the 2020 WR-V getting dual airbags for the front passengers, ABS with EBD, a rear camera with parking assist, rear windshield defogger and pedestrian injury mitigation technology. All of the above are offered as standard.
Honda has tried to play to its strengths by offering the car with two feature-packed variants. It would be suffice to say that the carmaker would expect sales to increase with the 2020 WR-V. Deliveries will commence soon.
