New gen Honda Jazz is not coming to India as the car is currently not viable for the country.
The Indian market is currently witnessing a huge slowdown in the automotive industry. Manufacturers are not ready to invest heavily in the Indian market. One of them is Honda, which has no plans to introduce the new gen Jazz in our market because of low volumes and high development cost.
The new generation Honda Jazz was recently showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show. The premium hatchback is based on a new platform and comes with a revised design along with high-end features.
For a competitive price tag, Honda will have to localise the new gen Jazz heavily and for that they need to develop the car from scratch, which makes the development cost of the new Jazz too high.
Currently the sales of Jazz isn’t good enough for Honda to invest big in developing the new generation model. Also, the Japanese carmaker has never developed India as an export hub. These are some of the reasons why Honda has no plans to introduce the new gen Jazz in our country.
The current generation Honda Jazz will continue to sell in India with extended life. The hatchback is designed to meet future emission and safety norms. It competes with the likes of Maruti Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20.
Honda is currently focussing on products like City, WR-V and Amaze that are selling well. The Japanese carmaker is discontinuing the products that are not profitable for them in India.
