The much awaited 2020 Honda City production has commenced and it has finally started rolling out. The new generation City is being manufactured at Honda’s Greater Noida facility. The Japanese carmaker has scheduled the launch for July 2020.
It will be soon dispatched to the dealers across the country while bookings will commence in a few days. Honda claims it is the longest and widest sedan in its segment. It will be available with an updated 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol motor along with the same 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine.
The petrol engine produces 121 PS at 6600 RPM and 145 Nm at 4300 RPM. It will be available with both 6-speed manual and CVT automatic transmission. However, the 1.5-litre diesel producing 100 PS at 3600 RPM and 200 Nm at 1750 RPM will be available with only a 6-speed manual transmission.
Some of the key features include 7-inch HD instrument cluster, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment, Alexa remote capability, rear sunshade, ambient lighting, connected car tech, LaneWatch camera, etc.
Safety features include 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Agile Handling Assist (AHA), Hill Start Assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, etc.
The India-spec 5th gen City comes with a longer wheelbase to offer more interior room compared to the one sold globally.
The new Honda City will compete agains the likes of Hyundai Verna, Maruti Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid and Toyota Yaris.
