2020 Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade and Fireblade SP bookings have commenced in India with deliveries set to start from August-end. To be brought in via the CBU route, the superbike is the most powerful Fireblade model from Honda to date.
Not only has Honda taken the design of the 2020 Honda CBR1000RR-R from the RC213V-S, it has also poached the engine and chassis technology from that bike. Thus, it uses the same bore and stroke of the RC213V-S, while forged aluminium pistons and frame design can also be traced to it.
Created with extensive involvement with Honda Racing Corporation (HRC), the bike has a 1000cc in-line 4-cylinder engine that generates 214 HP at 14,500 RPM and 113 Nm of peak torque at 12,500 RPM.
Features offered on the 2020 Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade and Fireblade SP include 5-inch TFT screen, aero winglets, smart key, Throttle-By-Wire (TBW), three riding modes, Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) with nine levels, Slip Rate Control (SRC) to reduce wheel spin and also a start mode.
The CBR1000RR-R is equipped with Showa’s new 3-level Honda Electronic Steering Damper (HESD) which is controlled by input from wheel speed sensors and IMU. Suspension at the front is Showa 43 mm Big Piston Fork (USD) and the adjustable rear shock is also from Showa.
While that is for the Fireblade, the SP uses second-generation Öhlins Smart Electronic Control (S-EC) suspension. It also additionally gets an user interface, 2-level ABS and a quick shifter.
Braking on the Fireblade is done via Nissin 4-piston radial mount front brake callipers mounted to 330 mm discs and a Brembo unit from the RC213V-S at the rear. The Fireblade SP gets Brembo Stylema front callipers (330 mm), while the rear is the same as the Fireblade.
We can be rest assured that the bike will sound good since the muffler has been developed jointly with Akrapovič and is made out of titanium. One more thing, the rear tyre has grown in size and is now 200/55-ZR17.
Honda BigWing dealerships across India have commenced 2020 Honda CBR1000 RR-R bookings. Colour options on the bike include Grand Prix Red (Fireblade and Fireblade SP), Matte Pearl Morion Black (Fireblade only).
