Honda has revealed the 10th generation Honda Accord sedan which comes with new styling and drive-train options.
Honda has revealed the updated 2020 Accord sedan along with its hybrid guise ahead of the upcoming 2019 Bangkok International Motor Show. The new Accord gets new cosmetic updates in line with the Honda design. The updated models are currently meant for the ASEAN markets.
The updated 2020 Honda Accord gets a chrome grille which covers the front width of the vehicle. It also gets full LED headlamps. The standard Accord runs on 17-inch alloy wheels while the hybrid sedan gets 18-inch alloys. The new Accord gets a sloping roofline which has a gradual gradient towards the rear end of the car. The taillamps also feature a wrap-around design.
The interiors are also updated on the 2020 Honda Accord. It now gets a newly designed steering wheel with steering-mounted controls and a 7-inch TFT screen instrument cluster. Along with it, the car also gets an 8-inch infotainment system with the inclusion of Apple CarPlay. Not only this, a heads-up display and a wireless charger is also included.
The vehicle in its international trim gets a host of safety features. These include a Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow (ACC with LSF), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation System with Lane Departure Warning (RDM with LDW), Auto High-Beam (AHB), Multi-View Camera (MVCS) and Cross Traffic Monitor (CTM) to name a few.
The 2020 Honda Accord is offered with two powertrains options – a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which makes 190 PS of power and 243 Nm of torque and a 2.0-litre petrol engine is also available in conjunction with two electric motors which makes a combined power of 215 PS. The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine has a claimed fuel efficiency of 16.4 km/l while the 2.0-litre hybrid has a combined fuel efficiency figure of 24.4 km/l. Both the powertrains are mated to an automatic (CVT) gearbox. The hybrid engine also comes with different drive modes such as EV Drive Mode, Hybrid Drive Mode, Sport Drive Mode and Engine Drive Mode.
The price of the 2020 Honda Accord goes up to Rs 39 lakhs in the international market. This is close to the price of the current generation of the Honda Accord which is being sold in India. The Honda Accord rivals against the Toyota Camry and the Skoda Superb in its segment. The end of the year 2019 could see the launch of the upcoming Accord but there is no official word regarding it.
