Ford has revealed their latest car which is a crossover and will be positioned above the EcoSport.
The latest entrant to the Ford’s global lineup has been revealed. The Ford Puma is the new crossover from the American carmaker. It looks compact in size. However, the Puma will be positioned above the EcoSport in the global lineup.
The Ford Puma gets crossover proportions revealing the new design language of the carmaker. There is nothing SUV-ish about the Puma. There is no resemblance to any other SUV in the Ford’s lineup, not even EcoSport. There is a cute looking front profile with huge headlamps having LED DRLs.
The side profile might remind you of the latest Fiesta but this is upright and gets shiny and large set of alloys. The rear profile is more like a hatchback. It looks sporty from the rear though with a muscular bumper.
The interior of the Ford Puma might look familiar as it shares some of the components with current range of Ford products. The steering wheel and the infotainment system can be found on a range of Ford cars. However, there are some new bits which look quite upmarket.
There is a huge 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster which will be offered as standard. The SYNC3 touchscreen infotainment system gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Ford Puma will be offered with a hybrid petrol engine in different state of tunes. It’ll be a 1.0-litre EcoBoost 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine paired to an electric motor. The base model will get a 123 HP unit while the higher variants will get 152 HP tune.
Ford will be offering a range of safety and driver assistance features. The Puma will come with Pre-Collision Assist, Pedestrian Detection, Emergency Brake Assist, Tyre Pressure Monitoring, ESC, semi-autonomous park assist, emergency steering assist and adaptive cruise control.
We don’t expect Ford to introduce the Puma crossover in India. The American carmaker is developing an India specific SUV with Mahindra with heavy localisation.
