2019 Yamaha R3 gets a sharper design but the engine will remain unchanged.
Japanese bike manufacturer, Yamaha, has been developing the next generation R3. Recently, the patent images of the next-gen Yamaha R3 have surfaced online. This bike gets a sharper design which is very similar to the present R15 Version 3.0.
At the front, the panel has been redesigned, which houses an air-intake between the twin LED headlights. The fuel tank is new and there are cut-outs on both the sides of the tank for better grip. The side fairing has been redesigned but it carries the Yamaha’s signature gills. However, the tail section, alloy design and exhaust muffler remain similar to the current model.
Though these images show us that it has got USD fork but to keep the prices low, the Indian model might be offered with a standard fork. The braking setup will be the same with dual-channel ABS as standard. The engine will also be the same 321cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled motor that is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. It churns out 42 HP and 29.6 Nm of torque. However, this next-gen R3 might get a slipper clutch.
The bike will be showcased globally at the EICMA 2018 but the arrival of this bike to India will be somewhere around later 2019. The price of the new R3 will be slightly more than the current model, which is available at Rs. 3.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
