The Yamaha R125 was launched in international markets about a decade ago. Now for 2019, the motorcycle has been unveiled in a completely new avatar. Yamaha’s R series is known for its great handling combined with exceptional engine performance.

The 2019 Yamaha R125 gets an all-new 125cc liquid-cooled engine with 4-valves and boasts of Variable Valve Actuation (VVA), the same technology debuted in Indian Yamaha bikes in the third generation R15. It also gets a new fuel injection system which is claimed to improve power and economy. The motorcycle also gets full LED headlights, and an assist and slipper clutch.

The Yamaha R125 gets a new Deltabox chassis with improved geometry which results in more stability and control for the rider. It comes with a new aluminium swingarm which is shorter and lighter than the previous version. The bike uses upside-down front forks, a feature which is also offered on the international spec R15 but was omitted on the Indian model. Being an entry-level bike, the R125 gets a nice fabric on the seat for daily commute with an 11-litre fuel tank.

The Yamaha R125 is powered by a 124.7cc, single-cylinder engine which produces 14.75 BHP, the bike weighs 142 kgs. These are good numbers for an entry-level bike. It also comes with a new LCD screen with a sporty tachometer and speedometer, there is a slew of information on display including Bluetooth connectivity.

The 2019 Yamaha R125 will go on sale in European markets later this year but an India launch is ruled out as the motorcycle will end up costing more than the R15 which already appears pricey for the engine displacement it has on offer.
