The 2019 Volkswagen Jetta has been teased well ahead of its official unveil early next year.
Volkswagen has teased the 2019 Jetta ahead of its official debut at the 2018 North American International Auto Show to be held in Detroit. The seventh generation Jetta is based on the carmaker’s flexible MQB platform and will rival the Toyota Corolla Altis, Skoda Octavia and Hyundai Elantra.
The teaser image reveals the silhouette of the new Volkswagen Jetta with the wider and bigger grille being the design highlight of the front fascia. The sedan does look compact in terms of dimensions but expect a marginally longer wheelbase and enhanced legroom in the cabin. A test mule of the Jetta was spotted undisguised earlier this year and the production version does look more or less similar to the former. If we were to go by the spy shots, then expect the German automaker to offer LED headlights and wraparound LED tail-lights on the 2019 Jetta.
The major improvement over the current model and the 2019 Jetta would obviously be the new platform. The sedan underpins the flexible MQB platform thus making it agile and lighter in terms of kerb weight. Coming to the powertrain options, petrol options on the new Jetta could include 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol motors and not to forget a 2.0-litre diesel engine. Right now there is no clarity on whether the sedan would be made for the right-hand drive markets like South Africa and UK, so it’s safe to assume that the car will not be making it to India.
