Triumph has revealed the new 2019 Scrambler 1200 in two versions.
Triumph has revealed the 2019 Scrambler 1200 in a new avatar. This motorcycle gets a host of features and purpose build equipment along with a list of electronic units. Unlike the Thruxton 1200, Triumph has tuned this engine differently to get a better low range.
The Triumph Scrambler 1200 is available in two versions, a base XC and an off-road oriented XE. However, there is no road focused XR version like you get in the Tiger range. The bike gets all LED lights as standard on both the versions.
This bike gets a new generation TFT display which gets some new features. For the first time, Triumph has co-developed a unit with GoPro that allows the user to control some functions of the GoPro action camera via motorcycle’s display and switchgear. Then there is the turn-by-turn navigation that is powered by Google Maps which displays direction on the console and also allows Bluetooth and music connectivity. However, the Bluetooth module is sold separately to get all these features.
The Scrambler 1200 gets 21-inch tyres at the front and 17-inch at the rear. These wheels are wire-spoke with tubeless Metzeler Tourance tyres. Triumph is also offering Pirelli Scorpion Rally tyres for those who want even more traction on rough terrain. The XC version gets 45 mm fully adjustable Showa USD forks and a pair of fully adjustable Ohlins dual shocks at the rear while the XE version gets a fatter 47 mm Showa forks.
This Scrambler motorcycle is powered by a parallel-twin engine that produces 90 HP at 7400 RPM and 110 Nm at 3950 RPM. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch. Triumph claims that the engine is tuned for a better low and mid-range performance. The bike comes with five riding modes – Rain, Road, Off-Road, Sport and Rider.
In terms of safety aids, the bike gets switchable traction control and ABS as standard while the XE gets IMU-aided traction control and cornering ABS as well. The bike also gets keyless ignition, cruise control and USB charging as standard on both versions. Triumph also offers heated grips on the XE model as standard and optional on the XC.
The Triumph Scrambler 1200 will be coming to India in the first half of 2019. However, the company will just bring the XC first followed by the XE later on. Triumph has not released the pricing but it is expected in the second week of December. The Scrambler 1200 will compete against the Ducati Scrambler 1100 range. With all these features we are expecting it to eat up other ADV motorcycles as well.
