Skoda Rapid Rider launched at a price of Rs. 6.99 lakhs, undercuts all its rivals in price.
It’s unlikely for a buyer to consider a Skoda when scouting for a sedan on a budget. June 2019 car sales figures reflect that the Skoda Rapid managed to gather very few buyers when compared to rivals. Aiming to change that, Skoda has introduced a new Rapid Rider limited edition variant at a price of Rs. 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Based on the base Active trim of the sedan, the new model is Rs. 1 lakh cheaper than the standard base variant. It undercuts the segment favourite Honda City (Rs. 9.70 lakh, ex-showroom), Hyundai Verna (Rs. 8.09 lakh, ex-showroom) and even the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz (Rs. 8.19 lakh, ex-showroom) in price.
The limited-edition Skoda Rapid Rider has only 2 colour options – Candy White and Carbon Steel. While it gets a gloss black finished grille, B-pillars and trunk lip garnish, it misses out on alloy wheels. The cabin gets a fresh dual-tone ebony sand interior with ivory slate upholstery but fails to incorporate a touchscreen infotainment system.
The 2019 Skoda Rapid Rider does not get a diesel engine or an automatic variant. It only gets a 1.6-litre petrol engine that delivers 104 PS of power and 153 Nm of torque. Mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, Skoda claims a mileage of 15.41 km/l. In terms of safety, the mid-size sedan provides dual airbags, ABS, rear parking sensors and a rear windscreen defogger. Skoda offers its standard warranty of four years on the new Rapid Rider as well.
