Skoda re-introduces the Rapid Monte Carlo in India with a starting price of Rs. 11.16 lakhs.
Skoda had introduced the Rapid Monte Carlo Edition in India in August 2017, before the model getting discontinued later. The Monte Carlo edition is a homage to Skoda’s motorsport heritage and Rallye Monte Carlo. The Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo comes with visual changes to the exteriors and interiors while mechanicals remain the same.
The Rapid Monte Carlo will be available across all authorised Skoda dealerships in the country in a Flash Red colour scheme with an effective starting price of Rs. 11.16 lakhs (ex-showroom). The car features Skoda’s signature black grille, with glossed up black mirrors and quartz-cut projector headlamps. The DRLs make the car stand out even during the daytime, thanks to the clean cut of the LED’s and their crystalline appearance. The Flash Red colour is complemented with black accents on body panels.
The exterior of the Monte Carlo edition is distinguished by the glossy black decor on the B-pillars which have the Monte Carlo badge on them, the blacked out roof foil, as well as the black tailgate spoiler and the black grained diffuser. The 16-inch alloy wheels with polished black bolts add to the sportiness of the Rapid Monte Carlo.
On the inside, the Monte Carlo edition comes with the three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel and gear knob magnificently finished in black leather with exquisite red stitching. The seats in the Rapid Monte Carlo are wrapped in leather upholstery with sharp grey vertical stripes enhancing the aesthetic appeal.
The dashboard panels get a piano black finish with chrome highlights accentuating just the right parts of the dash providing it with a superior feel. The foot pedals are finished in stainless steel and Monte Carlo inscribed scuff plates enhance the likeability of the interiors.
The Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo will come with the same 1.5-litre TDI and 1.6-litre MPI engines. The 1.5-litre TDI produces 110 BHP of power and torque output of 250 Nm while delivering fuel efficiency of 21.72 km/l (automatic gearbox) and 21.13 km/l (manual gearbox). The 1.6-litre MPI delivers 105 BHP of power and a peak torque output of 153 Nm while delivering fuel efficiency figures of 15.41 km/l (manual gearbox) and 14.84 km/l (automatic gearbox).
Skoda is offering safety features like dual airbags and ABS as standard across all the variants. In addition, Electronic Stability Control is available on the DSG variant and Hill Hold Control is available on both automatic transmission petrol and diesel variants.
The car features a 6.5-inch colour touchscreen infotainment system, providing SmartLink, which consists of all the mobile phone connectivity features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink. The car also features a rearview camera. The air-con has adjustable dual AC vents at the rear. The vehicle also gets rain-sensing wipers, cruise control and tilt/reach adjustable steering wheel.
