The 2019 Mercedes CLA is quite aerodynamic with a better drag coefficient.
The 2019 CES (Consumer Electronics Show) is underway and the focus, as usual, is more on electronic goods. However, Mercedes-Benz has taken up the platform to reveal the all-new CLA for the first time.
At 4688 mm length and 1830 mm width, the new Mercedes CLA is a good 48 mm longer and 53 mm wider than the outgoing model. This increase in the dimensions does indicate that the cabin is a lot roomier compared to the outgoing model.
Inside the cabin, it has a similar approach as the entry-level A-Class. This means, it has a two-display setup and MBUX infotainment system, which would come inclusive with an advanced control voice feature that works with a “Hey Mercedes”.
In terms of the safety parameterss, the new Mercedes CLA has a lot of features in the kit. Active Brake Assist, Active Lane Change Assist, a semi-autonomous function and an Active Emergency Stop Assist are the notable ones, some of which are taken from the S-Class.
The luxury car is also a lot more aerodynamic than before. The centre of gravity is set lower than before and the front and rear aerodynamic tracks are wider by 63 mm and 53 mm respectively. The car has a suspension setup made of decoupled multi-link for the rear that accounts for less vibration and noise, thanks to the better stabiliser bars and optional active dampers.
The new Mercedes CLA that made its way at the CES 2019 is the 250 model. This means, it gets a 2.0-litre, turbocharged, 4-cylinder engine that is capable of thumping out 222 BHP and 350 Nm of torque. The power is delivered to the wheels via a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
Other engine options might include all the units from the entry-level A-Class. The company’s 4MATIC AWD should also be offered.
