The 3rd generation Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is based on the Heartect platform.
The 2019 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is on the way to its launch on 23rd January 2019. The Indo-Japanese automaker has now opened bookings for the tallboy hatchback at an amount of Rs. 11,000/-.
The 3rd generation Maruti Suzuki Wagon R has a wider stance than the outgoing model and is based on the Heartect platform that underpins the new Swift and Ignis hatchbacks. With the increase in the size, it features a much more spacious cabin and best-in-class boot space. Moreover, it continues to sport the strong tallboy stance as it used to do always.
Inside the cabin, the 2019 Maruti Wagon R gets a new SmartPlay Studio infotainment system, which is its first time to be getting the feature. It will let the driver and the occupants get updates on the weather or news, locate nearest eateries and also listen to music.
The engine options have also been revealed and even though Maruti hasn’t revealed the power and torque figures yet, we know them because the same 1.0 engine powered the older Wagon R while the 1.2 petrol engine is also available in its siblings like the Swift, Baleno and Ignis. The smaller 1.0-litre K10B engine is capable of churning out a maximum power of 68 BHP and a peak torque of 90 Nm.
The bigger 1.2-litre engine is the K12M, 4-cylinder unit that churns out 83 BHP and 113 Nm of torque. Power would be sent down to the wheels via a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox.
As for the safety features, the 2019 Maruti Wagon R gets dual front airbags, ABS and EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution). Seat belt reminder, rear parking sensors and speed alert system are the other notable safety features.
