The 2019 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R range gets new engine components and an updated livery
Kawasaki has upped its game in the market by updating its litre-class ZX-10R range. The ZX-10R, ZX-10R SE and track-spec ZX-10RR all get an engine with updated internals. These changed components allow the engine to rev quicker along with some gain in power. Apart from that, the Ninja ZX-10RR gets some more mechanical changes and the ZX-10R SE gets cosmetic changes.
This revised motor draws the tech which was introduced in BMW S1000RR way back in 2010. The changed valve actuation from tappet-style to finger-follower has reduced the mass by 20 percent. This helps the engine to rev faster and also allows to keep up with the extreme engine running conditions. With this change the ZX-10R and ZX-10R SE now make 203 HP. Lighter titanium connecting rods and an extra 600 RPM helps race spec ZX-10RR to give a power output of 204 HP. The ZX-10RR will come with Marchesini forged wheels and production of the bike will be limited to just 500 units worldwide.
Bi-directional quick shifter becomes standard for base ZX-10R. ZX-10R SE also gets self-healing paint job which was earlier introduced in the Kawasaki H2 range. Cornering management, launch control, traction control and ABS are standard electronic aids. After being assembled in India, the ZX-10R and ZX-10RR are priced at Rs. 12.80 lakhs and Rs. 16.10 lakhs respectively (ex-showroom, Delhi), however the updated models are yet to be launched and will be priced premium.
