2019 Jeep Renegade unveiled at the Torino Motor Show in Italy, could make its way to India.
FCA has taken the wraps off the 2019 Jeep Renegade facelift at the Torino Motor Show in Italy. Currently, this is the Europe-spec model and the American-spec model is also expected to be offered with similar changes. Read on to know more about the India-bound compact SUV.
Up front, the 2019 Jeep Renegade gets a wider front grille with chrome accents and LED headlights with circular LED DRLs. The bumper has been slightly tweaked and now gets LED fog lamps. The side profile remains identical to the pre-facelifted car save for the new 5-spoke alloy wheels. At the rear, the compact SUV gets slightly reprofiled LED tail-lights. The tailgate now features a handle to open the boot.
The cabin of the 2019 Jeep Renegade is more or less identical to the previous model except for a larger touchscreen infotainment system. Powering the vehicle is a set of new engines. It includes a 120 HP 1.0-litre 3-cylinder unit and a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol in two states of tune – 150 HP and 180 HP. The company has no plans to launch the Renegade facelift with diesel engines in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
India could get the updated Renegade but the larger question is what sort of powertrains will the India-spec Renegade get? The 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine is likely to make its way under the hood of the vehicle but the 2.0-litre diesel which currently powers the Compass, we feel, is too big an engine for a compact SUV that goes against the Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur, Maruti S-Cross and the Honda BR-V. FCA could use the 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel engine, however, these are just speculations, nothing is certain as of yet.
