2019 Hyundai Santro Doesn’t Replace Eon

Hyundai Eon 1.0 Test Drive Review

The Eon is the smallest car in Hyundai’s line-up and will not be replaced by Santro.

The Eon will get a generation change in 2021

The launch of Hyundai Santro on October 23 raised many questions about the smallest car in the company’s portfolio, the Hyundai Eon. Many auto-pundits and sources expected that the Eon will be taken down from the company’s line-up, but it has been confirmed that the Santro isn’t the replacement of Eon.

The Eon was first launched in 2011 and has received a few mid-life updates till now. The new generation of Eon will be launched in 2021 and the car will continue to be the entry-level vehicle for the manufacturer. The next-gen Eon is expected to get design change along with enhanced features. The company might bring the CNG variant and an optional AMT gearbox just like the new Santro.

The current generation Eon comes with two petrol engine options – a 0.8-litre engine producing 55 BHP and 75 Nm of torque, while the 1.0-litre Kappa unit gives an output of 68 BHP and 94 Nm of torque. Both the engines come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It locks its horns against the Maruti Alto 800, Maruti Alto K10, Renault Kwid and Datsun redi-GO.
