Hyundai will offer a factory-fitted CNG kit for the new Santro. The Hyundai Santro CNG will be offered in two variants, Magna and Sportz. The CNG version will be mated to a manual transmission only, while the petrol comes with a choice of either a manual transmission or an AMT.
The petrol-powered Hyundai Santro gets a 1.1-litre engine which produces 69 BHP and has a claimed 20.3 km/l of fuel economy. The Santro CNG version gets a low output of 58 BHP and it is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The top-end variant (Asta) will not be offered in a CNG version. The two CNG trims miss out on some features like reverse camera, rear AC vents and the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
On the safety front, the Hyundai Santro CNG comes equipped with a driver’s airbag, ABS, EBD and rear parking sensors.
It is expected that the prices of the CNG variants will be around Rs. 50,000/- more than their respective petrol variants. Hyundai will start the deliveries in a couple of days after the car’s launch, which is on 24th October 2018.
