Hyundai has revealed the 2019 Elantra with looks that are bound to attract attention. The updates haven’t been limited to exteriors as the new model gets new features on the inside too. Not too many, but then the outgoing model wasn’t skimping on features either.

On the outside, the 2019 Hyundai Elantra looks more aggressive than it ever has. There’s a revised hexagonal grille at the front which has new triangular headlights on its top corners. The hood of the car too is newly designed and so are the front fenders. The rear too gets significant changes with a new bumper and boot lid with an integrated spoiler. The taillights are new and cannot not be admired. The side profile of the car is more or less the same and the 2019 Elantra rides on redesigned rims.

On the interior front, the changes are lesser in comparison to the exteriors. The centre-console houses a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that gets improved menus and a bird’s eye view function for navigation. It has a faster processor to prevent any lags during processing. The switchgear too is new and of better quality. A new instrument cluster sits behind the steering wheel.

Being an international-spec model, the 2019 Hyundai Elantra comes with all the safety systems that can be offered at the price. Standard equipment includes a lane keep assist, driver attention alert and forward collision avoidance assist. You can further have a blind spot collision warning with rear cross-traffic alert, pedestrian detection and lane change assist among others installed on the car as optional extras. Needless to say, ESC and ABS with EBS come as standard.

Powering the 2019 Hyundai Elantra are three engine options. First is the 2.0-litre motor that produces 147 HP. The second is a 1.4-litre, turbocharged motor that is good for 128 HP and the third one is another turbocharged motor which is 1.6-litre in size. The last one will, however, be made available at a later date with the new Hyundai Elantra Sport. Both the turbocharged engines can be mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox while the 1.6-litre motor can also be taken with a 6-speed manual transmission as it is aimed at the enthusiasts.

The 2019 Hyundai Elantra will go on sale in the U.S. this fall (September to November). India launch is not yet known but we hope that it happens soon.
