BMW has revealed its new flagship SUV, the X7 which also gets third row seats.

The BMW X7 gets a massive kidney grille

The biggest SUV in the BMW line-up has been revealed officially, the 2019 X7. This SUV will take on the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLS and Volvo XC90. The X7 is 9-inches longer than the BMW X5 along with having the largest kidney grille ever put in a car by BMW.

The BMW X7 gets an elegant design line with a proper SUV profile that can fit seven passengers. It gets a set of sleek headlights along with LED DRLs that wrap around the width of the fascia. The side profile is similar to the Mercedes GLS with the checkmark-shaped metal accent that covers the length of this SUV. The rear looks like an SUV version of the 7-series with the chrome trim that connects both the taillights. An aluminium rear splitter and big exhaust pipes with an upright position remind us that this SUV has 220 mm of ground clearance.

On the inside, the BMW X7 gets even more luxurious with a 12.3-inch iDrive infotainment screen, glossy grained wood accents and dollops of aluminium trim. It gets a choice of nine different fine leather options. It comes with a three-panel sunroof along with four-zone climate control. The top-spec X7 offers a 1500-watt Harmon Kardon sound system and a LED-illuminated sunroof that displays different colours or simulates a starry sky on the glass.

This is the first BMW which comes with a third-row seat as standard and can accommodate seven passengers. There’s an option for captain seats in the second row that brings seating capacity down to six passengers. The X7 has 2560-litres of cargo space with both the 2nd and 3rd rows folded.

The BMW X7 comes in two petrol engine options – a turbocharged 3.0-litre, six-cylinder engine that produces 335 BHP and 446 Nm of torque, a twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 engine that generates 456 BHP and 648 Nm of torque. Also, the diesel engine comes in two variants – M50d which develops 394 BHP and 760 Nm of peak torque and the xDrive30d which produces 261 BHP and 620 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.

This SUV features a long list of Active Driving Assistant features with blind spot detection, lane departure warning, rear collision warning, frontal collision warning and pedestrian warning coming in as standard. While the Active Driving Assistant Professional system gets an active lane-keeping assistant and extended traffic jam assistant and a Parking Assistant Plus package which adds a top view, panorama view and 3D View.

Bookings for the 2019 BMW X7 will be starting from next month and it will start arriving at US dealers by March 2019. However, BMW has not announced the launch of this SUV in any of the Asian countries yet but it is expected to be priced from Rs. 1 crore (ex-showroom) if it comes to Indian shores.
