The all-new BMW X5 has been launched in India with a starting price of Rs. 72.90 lakhs.
The new generation BMW X5 is here, priced from Rs. 72.90 lakhs (ex-showroom, India). The 2019 BMW X5 is one of the 12 cars that BMW is planning to launch in India this financial year. The 2019 BMW X5 is underpinned by the same CLAR platform which also spans several other BMW models like the 5-Series, 7-Series and the new X3.
The car is also wider than its previous version and comes with both petrol and diesel engine options. At the front, flanking the BMW kidney grille, are the new LED headlights which have new blue X-shaped beam inside the headlights. At the rear, it comes with a 3-D LED tail lamp unit that is sharply sculpted to give a strong character to the rear profile.
The interiors are quite plush and the 12.3-inch all-new digital instrument cluster adds to the premium appeal. It gets a redesigned centre console with the new gear knob and a revised drive mode selector. It gets a panoramic sunroof that makes the cabin look quite roomy and it also gets four-zone climate control, with redesigned AC vents.
The new BMW X5 measures 4921 mm in length, 1970 mm in width, 1737 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2975 mm. The boot space on the 2019 X5 is 645-litres with the seats up and when folded down, it extends to 860-litres.
It is powered by a 3.0-litre, turbocharged, 6-cylinder diesel engine that produces 265 BHP and 620 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox with the xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system as standard. The petrol version of the X5 is powered by a 3.0-litre, turbocharged, 6-cylinder petrol engine that makes 340 BHP and 450 Nm of torque. This engine is also offered with an 8-speed gearbox with xDrive.
The diesel variants are available right away while the petrol version deliveries will commence later this year. The petrol engine is BS6 compliant. The German carmaker is assembling the new X5 locally at their Chennai plant. The BMW X5 will compete with the likes of Mercedes GLS, Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90.
