The all-new, 7th generation BMW 3-Series revealed at the 2018 Paris Motor Show.
The German luxury carmaker, BMW has revealed the seventh generation of the 3-Series. BMW 3-Series is known as a driver’s car offering great performance and sharp driving dynamics. This new car gets a sporty design, great refinements along with premium interior and this time focussing even more on driver’s pleasure.
The 3-Series will now be a little longer than the previous model. This length will be used to make the car more spacious and safer than before. The new 3-Series will get six engine options, 4-cylinder petrol engines, 4-cylinder diesel engines and a 6-cylinder diesel engine. The power will range from 150 BHP to 265 BHP in these models respectively. This car gets a 6-speed manual transmission and an 8-speed Steptronic transmission globally.
The German carmaker claims that it gets sharper driving dynamics with the upgraded chassis and new damper system along with suspension mounting and 19-inch lightweight alloy wheels. Some other features like active air flap control, air curtains and nearly complete sealed underbody improve the aerodynamics of the car.
The 3-Series gets full LED headlights and darkened LED tail lights. It gets BMW Laserlights with a range of around 530 metres. It has an option of LED fog lamps too. On the inside, it gets LED lights as standard and ambient lighting with Welcome Light Carpet as optional. There is an 8.8-inch infotainment system with 6 speakers as standard, while Harman Kardon sound system with 16 speakers is an option.
On the safety front, it gets collision and pedestrian warning with braking function, lane departure warning system as standard. Active cruise control with stop & go function, steering and lane control assistant, lane change warning system, side collision protection and many other features are a part of the optional driving assistant.
BMW is also planning to launch the M Performance version and a plug-in hybrid version of the 3-Series in the coming years. India launch of the new 3-Series can be expected in mid-2019. In India, the 3-Series will compete against the Audi A4, Mercedes C-Class, Volvo S60 and Jaguar XE.
