The Volkswagen Polo will enter its 6th generation soon and it has been spied in South Africa.
The next generation Volkswagen Polo is one highly anticipated vehicle and it has finally been caught without any sort of camouflage in South Africa. The premium hatchback will be showcased at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show and it will be the 6th generation of the Volkswagen Polo.
The design gets a complete makeover and the new styling gets a lot of inspiration from the Golf which is positioned above the Polo in global markets. The bumpers, lights, etc. get sharp lines and the design is unmistakably Volkswagen. Based on the MQB A0 platform, the new Polo is longer and wider than the current model. It is also lighter by 70 kgs now.
The global model will get engine options like 1.0-litre TSI, 1.5-litre TSI and 1.6-litre TDI. The Polo GTi which is a performance oriented model will get the 2.0-litre TSI mill. Transmission options will include 5-speed and 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG.
The current generation Polo has been on sale in India for 7 years now. It is a popular premium hatchback and is a favourite with enthusiasts too. We can expect Volkswagen to launch the new Polo in India in 2018 itself and it will compete in the premium hatchback segment.
