2018 Volkswagen Polo images surface ahead of its official unveil, is larger than its predecessor.
The current generation Volkswagen Polo has had an 8 year run in the international markets and finally the automaker is bringing out the new generation of the hatchback. Looking at the images, one aspect that catches instant attention is the dimensions of the car. The Volkswagen Polo has grown in size and has a lot going for it.
For starters, the 2018 Volkswagen Polo is underpinned by an all new platform. Gone is the old PQ25 platform and in comes the brand’s modular MQB platform which also makes the next-gen Polo more lighter. In fact the Polo looks like a mini Golf, sharing many components with the Golf including the design and interiors.
The new Volkswagen Polo measures 4053 mm in length, 1446 mm in height and is 1751 mm wide. In comparison to the previous generation Polo, the new version is much longer and wider but shorter. There is an improvement in the cabin space inside the hatchback thanks to an increased wheelbase which is now 2564 mm v/s 2469 mm in the previous generation Polo.
The 2018 Polo is expected to be powered by 2 petrol engines- a 1.0-litre TSI engine in 4 different states of tune and a 1.4-litre TSI engine in 2 different states of tune. On the diesel line-up, Volkswagen will probably give the 1.6-litre diesel only.
Volkswagen has not put any words on the India launch of this new Polo, considering the length of the new Polo, The automaker might not even bring it to India due to the benefits that the carmaker will miss on the new car being over 4 metres in length.
