The 2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 has been launched in India, is priced at Rs. 17 lakhs.
Post the launch of the 2018 Tiger 800, the new Triumph Tiger 1200 has been launched in India. Priced at Rs. 17 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) and the adventure tourer comes in only one variant – XCx. The 2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 is the company’s first launch for this FY and bookings for the motorcycle have commenced across India at a token amount of Rs. 2 lakhs.
The new Tiger 1200 loses the Explorer moniker and gets a host of new features. For starters, there is an LED headlamp with cornering function and LED DRLs, 5-inch full-colour TFT instrument console, illuminated switchgear and clutch with shift assist. Featuring an updated cruise control, the 2018 Tiger 1200 XCx has made sure it has gone to the gym to lose 5 kgs of weight. Heated grips and seats are offered as optional.
Powering the 2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 is an updated 1215cc in-line 3-cylinder, liquid-cooled and fuel injected engine that produces 141 PS of power at 9350 RPM and 122 Nm of torque at 7600 RPM. Mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a bi-directional quick-shifter, the motorcycle gets a lighter flywheel, crankshaft and a new magnesium cam cover. The vehicle gets six riding modes – Road, Rain, Off-Road, Sport, Individual and Off-Road Pro modes, cornering ABS and a hill-climb assist.
Suspension duties are handled by 48 mm WP inverted forks up front and a WP monoshock at the rear. Twin 305 mm discs and a 282 mm disc at the front and rear respectively take care of braking duties.
