As the festive season begins soon, Tata is offering new 17-inch alloys with the Safari Storme.
The festive season is just around the corner. In order to grab some volumes, carmakers are launching updates with their existing models. You must have thought that the Safari Storme will get no updates since the Hexa is getting more attention and the Harrier is about to launch soon. That’s not the case though!
The Indian carmaker has updated the Safari Storme with a new set of 17-inch alloy wheels, 235/65 R17 to be precise. Until now, the Safari used to come with 16-inch alloys. Now, the range topping VX trims have been updated with these new alloys while the rest of the variants get 16-inch wheels.
In case you are having a deja vu and thinking that you have seen this alloy wheel design before, then yes you are right. This is not a new design but the Safari is getting it for the first time in a production model.
Only Safari fans will remember that when Tata first launched the Storme at the 2012 Auto Expo, it was showcased with these alloys. However, this design never made it to the production model.
The same set of alloys were teased again though. At the 2016 Auto Expo, Tata showcased the customised Safari Storme Tuff edition. That particular car had the same alloys but finished in black.
These new alloys fill the wheel arches quite well unlike the 16-inchers. Also, expect the new 17-inch alloys to affect the ride quality to some extent. It might get stiffer than before. Sadly, apart from the new alloys, there are no other cosmetic or mechanical updates.
