The 2018 Tata Nexon AMT has been launched in India, is priced from Rs. 9.41 lakhs.
The 2018 Tata Nexon has finally been launched in India with prices starting from Rs. 9.41 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The compact SUV is available in both petrol and diesel variants. Both the powertrains get a 6-speed AMT (automated manual transmission) which Tata calls ‘HyprDrive Self-Shift Gears’! Currently, the Nexon AMT is available only in the range-topping XZA+ trim.
Apart from the variant badging on the boot lid, visually there are no changes between the Nexon MT and Nexon AMT. For the AMT versions, Tata has introduced a new exterior paint scheme – Etna Orange with Sonic Silver finished roof and the same was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo earlier this year.
Both the petrol and diesel engines in the Nexon AMT make the same power and torque as their manual counterparts. The 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Revotron motor produces 110 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque while the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder oil-burner belts out 110 PS and 260 Nm of torque. Both the powerplants come mated to a 6-speed AMT gearbox. The Nexon is the first AMT in India that offers multiple drive modes – Eco, City and Sport. The company is also offering a manual mode and a creep function with the AMT gearbox.
Based on the top-spec XZ+ trim, the AMT version gets all the bells and whistles like projector headlights with LED DRLs, front fog lights, 16-inch alloy wheels and a 6.5-inch Harmon Kardon touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto. The Nexon AMT trim comes at a premium of approximately Rs. 61,000 over the manual gearbox variant.
