The 2018 MINI Countryman has been launched in India, is priced from Rs. 34.90 lakhs.
Post the unveil at the Auto Expo earlier this year, the 2018 MINI Countryman has finally been launched in India. Prices for the most practical MINI start from Rs. 34.9 lakhs (ex-showroom, India). The car is available in two petrol variants – Cooper S and Cooper S JCW and a single diesel variant – Cooper SD.
The 2018 MINI Countryman adopts a completely new design language. The grille might look similar to the previous Countryman but the headlamps and the bumper are all-new. The LED headlamps get projector units like before but now feature oval-shaped LED DRLs inside. A glance at the side profile and you will realise that the Countryman has grown in terms of the length which is up by 200 mm. The rear gets a new set of tail lamps with new graphics and an aggressive-looking bumper.
Hop inside and the traditional MINI cabin greets you. While the 3-spoke steering wheel and state-of-the-art 8.8-inch touchscreen iDrive infotainment system are reminiscent of the previous Countryman, the 2018 version gets a slightly tweaked dashboard with a new instrument cluster. The round AC vents have given way to rectangular-shaped units. Nonetheless, the talking point of the 2018 MINI Countryman has to be the space in the cabin. Wheelbase and the width are up by 75 and 33 mm respectively and this has translated into more space inside. Boot space too has increased to 450-litres (up by 100-litres). Features on offer include driving modes (Sport, Mid and Green), cruise control, Park Assistant, Head-Up Display, rear parking sensors with camera and a host of safety features like ABS with Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability Control, multiple airbags and run-flat tyres.
The 2018 MINI Countryman draws power from 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. The 2.0-litre petrol powertrain makes 189 HP of power and 280 Nm of torque while the 2.0-litre oil-burner produces 188 HP of power and 400 Nm of torque. Both the powerplants come mated to an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. The MINI Countryman locks its horns with the Volvo V40 Cross Country and the Volkswagen Beetle.
