The three-pointed stars have come up with their luxury estate, E-Class All-Terrain
Of late luxury carmakers have started introducing station wagons. First up was Audi with the RS6 Avant then came in Volvo with the V90 Cross Country and now Mercedes has introduced the E-Class All-Terrain in India, which is priced at Rs. 75 lakhs (ex-showroom).
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain gets the same interior from the E-Class sedan but in a darker shade. It gets the Mercedes signature twin pod instrument cluster with a display which shows the angle of front wheels, incline angle and many other off-road related information. It also gets 12.3-inch COMMAND infotainment system, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control, powered tailgate, air suspension, etc.
Under the hood, it gets a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine which produces 194 HP and 400 Nm of torque mated to a 9-speed gearbox with the all-wheel drive 4-MATIC layout. There are five driving modes – Eco, Comfort, Sport, Individual and All Terrain which change the engine, gearbox, steering and suspension response.
The E-Class All-Terrain gets extra protective chrome on the bumper with claddings on top of all the wheels. This car runs on 19-inch alloy wheels, you can even raise the ride height by 35 mm with a button below 35 km/hr. It gets a boot capacity of 640-litres and 1820-litres when the seats are folded.
In India, the E-Class All-Terrain already has a competition. It will compete with the Volva V90 Cross Country and Audi RS6 Avant. The E-Class All-Terrain is priced at Rs. 75 lakhs (ex-showroom, India).
