Italian carmaker Maserati has launched the 2018 version of the Ghibli in India. The sedan is available in 3 variants – Diesel, GranSport and GranLusso. The 2018 Maserati Ghibli price starts at Rs. 1,33,87,856/- for the Diesel trim and goes up to Rs. 1,42,47,814/- for the range-topping GranLusso variant (both prices, ex-showroom, India).
All the 3 grades share the same diesel motor under the hood. The 3.0-litre V6, Euro-6 compliant oil-burner produces 275 HP of power and 600 Nm of torque. The powerplant comes paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels. The engine features AdBlue and start-stop technology and the automaker claims a 0-100 km/hr time of 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/hr. The ARAI-tested fuel-efficiency is rated at 16.9 km/l.
Speaking of exterior and interior, the 2018 iteration of the Ghibli is vastly unchanged. There are restyled front and rear bumpers. The GranLusso trim gets an enhanced exterior finish and an option of a luxurious interior with Ermenegildo Zegna silk upholstery while the GranSport grade gets an all-black interior with Sport seats, steering wheel and foot pedals. Both the GranSport and GranLusso get adaptive LED headlights (with glare-free Matrix high-beam), Skyhook adaptive suspension, Integrated Vehicle Control (IVC) system and Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS).
The Maserati Ghibli does not have a direct rival in India but in terms of pricing, the vehicle locks its horns with the Jaguar XJ, BMW 7-Series and Mercedes S-Class although it belongs to a segment lower, a.k.a., it’s an XF, 5-Series and E-Class competitor.
