2018 Maruti Swift bookings have started with an initial payment of Rs. 11,000/- and its debut is scheduled for the 2018 Auto Expo.
As the first two generations of the Swift have been absolute blockbusters in the country, Maruti Suzuki is betting big on the success of the third generation model as well. The car is going to be launched next month at the 2018 Auto Expo. Starting from today, Maruti dealerships have started to accept pre-bookings for the 2018 Swift for a booking amount of Rs. 11,000/-.
Sitting on the fifth-generation HEARTECT platform, the new Swift follows a global design language which imparts considerable changes to the exterior design including a single-aperture front grill, dual-tone alloy wheels and sweeping headlamps shod with LED projectors and LED DRLs. To liberate more space inside the cabin, the overall width has been increased by 40 mm and the wheelbase is now 20 mm longer.
On the inside, it offers an all-black cabin which comes with a dash of satin chrome. While the cabin layout is similar to that of the Dzire, the hatchback gets circular AC control dials and middle vents. The SmartPlay infotainment unit and chunky flat-bottom steering wheel give a premium look to the cabin. Apart from 28% increase in boot space, the car offers a more relaxed rear seat angle and 24 mm additional headroom.
The new Swift draws power from the same set of engines as the outgoing car which are retuned for better performance. In addition to a 5-speed manual shifter, customers will also get an option of a 5-speed AMT unit on the 1.2-litre petrol as well as the 1.3-litre diesel engine which is bound to enhance market demand multiple times. Standard safety kit includes dual airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX mounts.
The 2018 Maruti Swift is available in a total of 12 variants – Lxi, Vxi, Vxi AGS, Zxi, Zxi AGS and Zxi+ for petrol and LDi, VDi, VDi AGS, ZDi, ZDi AGS and ZDi+ for diesel-powered version. Colour options on offer include Prime Midnight Blue, SLD Fire Red, PRL Arctic White, Silky Silver, Magma Grey and a new Prime Lucent Orange. The 2018 Swift is estimated to come with a 5% price hike depending on the variant chosen.
