2018 Maruti Swift brochure has been leaked ahead of its official launch scheduled for the Auto Expo.
We all know that Maruti Suzuki is looking forward to launch the second-gen Swift in the country next month. Expectedly, the immense popularity of the car’s current and past iterations gave rise to a lot of speculations about specifications and features of the upcoming model. Leaked ahead of the official launch, 2018 Maruti Swift brochure puts all speculations to rest and reveals some concrete details.
Starting with the engines, the Swift draws power from the same set of 4-cylinder engines which have been retuned to deliver better performance. The 1.2-litre petrol motor puts out 81.8 BHP of power and 113 Nm of torque while the 1.3-litre fuel-burner is good for 74 BHP of power and 190 Nm of torque. Both the engines can be had with a 5-speed manual box or a 5-speed AGS (AMT) unit which is optional in the middle variants.
Underpinned by the HEARTECT platform, the car is lighter with a kerb weight of 855-880 kgs for the petrol trims and 955-985 kgs for the diesel ones. Fuel tank capacity has been reduced to 37-litres while the ground clearance stands at 163 mm. The lower two variants get 165/80/14 rubber and the other two trims get 185-section tyres on larger 15-inch alloys. At 2450 mm, the hatchback gets a 20 mm longer wheelbase along with improved 268-litre boot space.
The 2018 Maruti Swift will come in 4 variants, namely L, V, Z and Z+, with AGS being offered on the V and Z trims. Dual airbags, ABS with EBD & brake assist, ISOFIX mounts, tilt steering and LED tail lamps are some key features in the L variants. The next variant comes with wheel covers, body-coloured ORVMs & door handles, chrome accents inside the cabin, tachometer, security alarm, bluetooth-enabled music system, keyless entry and 4-door power windows among others.
The Z variants add push-button start, leather-wrapped steering, rear wiper, parking sensors, auto-closing ORVMs, climate control, boot lamp, 60:40 split rear seat and fog lamps to the package while the top-of-the-line Z+ variants get SmartPlay infotainment, LED projector headlamps with DRLs, parking camera and auto headlamps over the kit on the previous variant. Maruti Swift rivals the Hyundai Grand i10 and Ford Figo primarily.
